November Running Schedule!

Oh no! We’re getting closer and closer to treadmill weather! (Except for those in sunny states -_-)

Below is my personal running schedule for November. Feel free to follow along, but use at your own risk! These schedules are made for people who are comfortable running a 5K.

I promise I’ll get more training plans up soon for those who are just learning to run!

But for now…Enjoy!

How to Make the Most out of your Race Day

Running can be boring. Especially when you’re running long distance. Below are some suggestions on how to stay motivated on race day!

1. If you run with music…ImageMake a bomb-diggity playlist! (YES BOMB-DIGGITY). Oh, and don’t forget to dance while your running or sing along. I do it all the time! Sure I might look ridiculous but It takes my mind off the road and actually motivates me.

Like my playlist name? :*
You bet I have NSYNC on there!

2. High Five the smaller spectators…

You better if they have their hand out waiting! They came to cheer you on, why not thank them by giving them a high five back? Remember when getting a high five from someone older was the COOLEST THING EVER? Also high five the adults too. Everyone is there to motivate you!

I know you just got excited about that web-high five right now.
Think about how excited kids get with the real thing!

3. Thank the Volunteers…

Image

They got their awesome butt up early before you even arrived to the race! Not many people could run a race without volunteers. Heck! I don’t even know if there would be any races today without volunteers. They rock! (And hand us glorious water every other mile!)  I always thank the person who hands me H20. ALWAYS!!!

4. Pose for Pictures…

Who doesn’t want awesome (and sometimes embarrassing) photos after their race! Also who cares if you look like a sweaty mess. Running isn’t suppose to be easy!

Exhibit A & Exhibit B.

5. Congratulate other Runners…

You both did it! Share the love! You just lapped everyone sleeping in their nice warm comfy… Never-mind! You just accomplished an amazing thing. Don’t forget to get your medal and free goodies afterwards!

And last but not least…

EAT ALL THE FOOD! You just burned a 389240958249 calories. Go eat your favorite meal with your medal proudly around your neck.

I moved!

To a different blog host, that is. WordPress is now my new home for my posts and updates. I will still be posting these to Tumblr too as my post’s grow.

I moved, because I wanted to have a little more control over my webpage, and to try something new. What’s new? A lot! I’m re-doing Working it Out to make it a more interactive blog with followers!

Here’s what you’ll be seeing more of…

  1. Recipes: Eating healthy, when you’re busy and on a budget.                                                             (Broke and in college…anyone?)
  2. Workout Training Plans: 5K, 10Ks, Halfs, Fulls, Misc. (:
  3. More inspiration and motivation! Cause who doesn’t love that?!
  4. Weekly Recap: My weeks are busy (Hello Adult Life!) So Weekly Recap will be on Saturdays
  5. Reasons why I Run: A weekly post  that will contain a quote from myself or others to why they run!

It’s the most un-wonderful time of the year…

I’ve been extremely busy with school work and work that I haven’t been about to post for a while. 5 hours of homework and studying is something that I don’t want to be doing every day. I need sleep. And I need to go for a run. On the plus side I got a new pair of running shoes, right?!

I will try to post as much as I can, but I’ve been slammed with well…college, work, and coaching.

Happy training everyone!

(Or schoolwork if you’re in college like me)

Too-Da-Loo!

This is Me

My awesome GOTR co-coach and I!

Last night I went to a wonderful fundraiser for Girls on the Run (who I coach for). The event was called “This is Me” and focused on bringing out women and young girls true beauty without makeup. Prior to the event, I volunteered to have my picture taken without makeup to promote “This is Me” & also show that it’s okay to be comfortable in your own skin. (wish I had the photo!).

In this day in age it is so important to realize that it is more than okay to not wear makeup. I believe it’s important to teach young children about a positive body image, because the media more than ever is in our daily lives, constantly flashing images of flawless celebrities and models. Young children looking at these images need to learn that those celebrities are not perfect. Better yet, everyone needs to learn that it’s okay if you’re not flawless or perfect- because no one should be. Every little odd freckle or hair makes up who we are. Those things we may call “imperfections” may be the exact reason why somebody loves us.

I would be lying if I said I never wear makeup. I love wearing it! Mascara is my go to tool because it brings out my blue eyes. So yes it’s completely okay to wear makeup! I love how it helps bring out my beauty even more! Also I’m completely okay without wearing makeup too. It’s important to learn how to be comfortable in our own skin. Of course, I am a bit self-conscience if I have a pimple on my face but I don’t over obsess about it. Sure zits are not-so-pretty, but they go away. It’s one of the smaller things we have to deal with in life. So no worries, okay?(:

Embrace your true beauty and show the world. Be confident, be strong, and be happy.

Because no one is the exact same.

This is Me.

Amazing t-shirt I bought at the event.

Our first practice!

Today kicked off the Fall 2013 season of Girls on the Run. This is my second season coaching and I am loving it!

Today the girls learned about the founding of GOTR and of course, their teammates names(:

One of my favorite things we did today was create 5 rules to follow this season. The girls all came up with different rules that applied to Girls on the Run. I must say they’re fabulous!

  1. Listen when someone else is talking
  2. Be nice and support our teammates
  3. Focus on GOTR when you’re at GOTR
  4. Never give up & never move back
  5. Treat others and the space around us with respect

My favorite rule is number 4. What’s yours?

(Rules created by 3rd-5th graders)

Have a great Tuesday everyone, and remember…Never give up! It’s in the rules (;

September Running Schedule

Here is my running schedule for September! Feel free to follow along!
As you can see I’m lowering a bit of my miles this month, because I’m in between races right now. So my goal for my next race (Hot Chocolate Run 15K) is to lower my pace and time and work on my running technique. I would also like to lower my 5K time. Thus why I’m running 3 miles almost every day. Happy September!

P.S. I probably won’t be running Sunday because of my bronchitis, but this is not just a running schedule for me(:
Feel free to use!
